Perugia-Trasimeno Bike Trail
The Perugia-Trasimeno Bike Trail is a beautiful 30-km-long scenic cycle path from the city of Perugia to Lake Trasimeno.
And it passes right in front of our holiday farm. Super convenient, therefore, for bikers and groups equipped with e-bikes and mountain bikes.
The path winds through spectacular Umbrian countryside scenery including hills, woodlands, olive groves, cultivated fields and medieval villages. The bike trail follows mainly secondary roads with minimal traffic, with a few stretches on dirt roads and short climbs requiring a certain level of fitness, but which offer truly spectacular panoramic views.
The route begins in the historical city centre of Perugia and continues to Lake Trasimeno, the largest lake in central Italy, via the lovely town of Assisi, famous for being the city of St. Francis and for its Basilica.
There are numerous opportunities to sample local cuisine along the Perugia-Trasimeno Bike Trail, including wines, olive oil, cold cuts and cheeses. The path also includes numerous tourist attractions such as the Etruscan ruins in Castiglione del Lago and the Castle of Magione.
The bike trail is suited to cyclists of all levels and open all year round, although spring and autumn are the best times to ride it. There are also several technical assistance points, bike rental points and tour guide services along the Perugia-Trasimeno bike trail for those who wish to make the most of this experience.
